Itinerary in Details

Day 1: Arrival Trivandrum / Transfer to Kovalam (Poovar) (B/D)

Upon arrival at Trivandrum airport, you are met by our company executive and transfered to your hotel in Poovar Island. Unspoilt and unexplored, enveloped by the most serene backwaters, the sea and the beach at Poovar Island is one of the best and a rare destinations. Upon arrival check into your hotel and relax. In the evening we will host you with special candle light dinner with ethnic menu.

Day 2: In Poovar (B)

Leisure day to explore the area on your own. A vehicle is provided at your disposal. You may visit the Hawai beach of Kovalam (or) take a day excursion to Kanykumari, the southern tip of India and return. Overnight at hotel in Poovar.


Day 3: Poovar to Alleppey [190kms/4.0hrs] (B/L/D)

After breakfast, checkout from the hotel and drive to Alleppey – the land of backwaters. On arrival, board a private House boat, specially decorated to take you on a tour through the backwaters of Alleppey. It is a splendid area full of canals, lakes and coves. You get to see the whole lifestyle of people on the water. People here sail, fish, swim and bathe here. They do their washing and their washing-up. They are adapted to the water so well that you can see people talking for a long time, with water reaching their necks.

Day 4: Alleppey to Cochin [65kms/1.5hrs] (B)

Disembark from Houseboat at around 9:30am. and drive to Cochin – a cosmopolitan city in the federal state of Kerala. Upon arrival in Cochin, check into a hotel and onward for sightseeing tour of Cochin visiting: The Jewish Synagogue at the heart of what is locally called the Jew Town, The Dutch Palace – with mural paintings, The St. Francis Church -the oldest European Church in India, The Santa Cruz Basilica - originally built in 1557 by the Portuguese and the famous Chinese fishing nets. In the evening take a gentle walk on the Chinese net area and later visit the famous dance drama of Kerala - the “Kathakali”. This dance can be characterized by grotesque gesticulations, amazing costumes and very extensive make-up. The stories are mostly taken from the epics of Mahabharatha and Ramayana.

Day 5: Cochin to Munnar [155kms/4.0hrs] (B)

Checkout from the hotel after breakfast and drive to Munnar – the “Nature Lovers’ Paradise”. The drive through the picturesque countryside of Munnar, a popular getaway retreat for honeymooners. Surrounded by lush green tea estates, this picturesque hill station boasts of exotic flora and fauna. Upon arrival check into a hotel and evening is at your leisure to absorb the beauty of this hill station.

Day 6: In Munnar / Sightseeing (B)

With a relaxed start of the day, after Breakfast visit Eravikulam park – one of the famous National parks of Kerala and the prime attraction of Munnar. This is the home of the endangered “Nilgiri Thar” with a largest population, compared to any other place in the world. Onward visit other places of interest such as: Mattupetti dam, Eco point and the “Tea museum,” where you get to see the processing of tea. Return to hotel and remain day at leisure on the nature’s lap.

Day 7: Munnar to Periyar [130kms /3.0hrs] (B)

After breakfast, depart from hotel and drive to Periyar (also known as Thekkady). The name Periyar comes after the dam made here by the English in 1895. At the Wildlife reserve, track down wildlife such as: elephants, bison, deer and numerous other varieties of birds. The landscape here is very tropical and you will be surrounded by tea, coffee and other aromatic spices. On arrival check into hotel.

Day 8: In Periyar / Sightseeing (B)

Morning at leisure, including a nice Plantation tour to nearby Gardens. A guide accompanies you on this tour to explain about various spices and their preservations efforts. You may shop for some of the best available spices of this region, which could be a good gift for friends and family back home. In the evening at 15:30hrs, we will leave for the most popular boat trip at the National park. It’s the best way to observe the wildlife from a boat. There are many animals to see, including herds of elephants, bison and wild boars that roam the woods and parade along the shores of the lake, usually just before sunrise and sunset.

Day 9 : Periyar to Kumarakom [140kms/3.5hrs] (B)

Checkout from hotel after breakfast and go to Kumarakom. The drive downhill through the lush green tea estates and many more stunning views will be a feast for your eyes and cameras. Arrive Kumarakom, which is the enchanting backwater destination. It is a cluster of little islands on the Vembanad Lake. Kumarakom confirms that Kerala is indeed the God’s own country. It has beautiful mangrove forests, coconut groves and emerald green paddy fields, interspersed with enchanting waterways and canals. It is a part of Kuttanad region. The bird sanctuary here spread across 14 acres of any ornithologist’s paradise. On arrival check into the hotel and rest of the day at leisure.

Day 10: In Kumarakom / leisure (B,D)

Day at leisure for own activities. Vehicle is at disposal. You may also visit the near by main town, which has famous Churches like Valiyapalli and Cheriyapalli. You may also choose to just stay by the resort and relax and rejuvenate. Kumarakom is also a place where you can experience good traditional Kerala Ayurveda. In the evening enjoy a sunset cruise on a motorboat on the vembanad lake.
This evening is a Special Photo Session with Traditional Kerala Costume. The vibrant backwater backdrop adds the best scenic beauty to the photograph and a memory of a lifetime. A departure farewell dinner is served with seafood specialty menu.

Day 11: Departure transfer

Checkout from the hotel, according to your flight schedule. Tour ends today with a departure transfer to Cochin airport for onward flight.
